We are currently looking to hire an Electrical Engineer for our client who is a leader in the Industrial Automation, located in Cambridge, ON. This is an approx. 6 months contract with the possibility of extension.
The Electrical Engineer provides functional and test expertise for various aspects of Medium Voltage AC Drives and Starters including control, system integration, application and testing of such products with a focus on hardware/ firmware design test for motor firmware control and systems..
Develops, designs and executes functional/feature testing and verification for ac drives focusing on control aspects.
Must understand motor control algorithms for synchronous and induction machines, firmware and hardware design in order to create test processes and tools.
Must have good knowledge of electric machines including induction, synchronous, permanent magnet and SRM.
Possesses good knowledge of various power converters: 3 phase VSI, CSI, NPC, Multi level and Matrix converters.
Defines, leads and executes test processes and procedures on various test platforms.
Must demonstrates project management and technical team leadership when required and have strong communication skills.
Must be familiar with safe electrical practices and be comfortable to operate low, medium and high power drives at medium voltage.
This position will start as day shift (8:30 am - 4:30) but may transition to evening shift (2:30 pm - 10:30 pm).
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in ac drives, motor control algorithms, power electronics and testing environment.
An Engineering degree In Electrical Engineering (B. Sc. or M.Sc.) with specialization in Power Electronics and AC drives is required.
Knowledge with analysis, design, programming, and test methodology of real-time software systems using modern engineering practices using the C/C++ language would be an asset.
Familiarity with simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink is required. Knowledge of model based programming is an asset.
