Job Title: Principal Integration & Test Mechanical Engineer

Location: Wallops, Virginia

Job Description

Volt is looking for a Principal Integration & Test Mechanical Engineer to work for our client, a leading Aerospace and Defense company. The engineer will be an integral part of the space lift program out of Wallops VA. Liquid rocket engine experience is a must.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Need a very strong Principal Integration & Test Mechanical Engineer who will manage assembly, integration, and test of space launch vehicle flight hardware.
  • Hands-on mechanical integration of flight hardware, developing/maintaining processes and procedures for vehicle assembly
  • Designing and developing tooling to aid in the integration and test process, and documenting and pursuing root cause of discrepancies found with hardware.

Top three skills:

  • Hands on mechanical experience with liquid rocket engines such as RD-180, RD-181, NK-33, RD-191, or RD-151.
  • 6-10 years of mechanical hands-on integration & test or related experience is required
  • Hands-on mechanical integration of flight hardware
  • Engineer will directly manage RD-181 liquid engine integration & testing as well as engine remediation.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Specific duties include hands-on mechanical integration of flight hardware, developing/maintaining processes and procedures for vehicle assembly, designing and developing tooling to aid in the integration and test process, and documenting and pursuing root cause of discrepancies found with hardware.
  • Bachelors Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6-10 years of mechanical hands-on integration & test or related experience is required
  • Experience with liquid rocket engines (i.e. RD-180 or RD-181) is required.
  • Hands on mechanical experience with liquid rocket engines such as RD-180, RD-181, NK-33, RD-191, or RD-151. (for example Atlas III or Atlas V vehicles)
  • Ability to work in a fast pace team environment and multi-task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems
