Job Description

Position Summary:

The Account Manager of Southern California is the primary point-of-contact for accounts and external sales management.  Account Managers are responsible for implementing business plans for new clients, providing support to external sales management, providing quality assurance of internal processes and procedures, and making decisions on how to improve client satisfaction and profitability. Additionally, this role acts as a training support to outside sales representatives and frequently assists with in-person training on various company processes, initiatives, procedures, and sales-focused presentations, for groups of 3-30+ people.

The position offers a unique opportunity to be involved with all aspects of our companies’ business model.  This includes working with our IT, Marketing and Business Development departments to help solve client/field sales employee needs, while also working directly with the external and internal sales teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Manage assigned accounts to assure client expectations are being met 
  • Establish and maintain customer and external sales management relationships
  • Update and maintain Customer Relationship Management system to assure client accounts are set up properly in system
  • Proactively monitor account performance
  • Work closely with external sales management to create and implement marketing plans, recruiting plans, sales personnel performance plans and other necessary plans to keep accounts at peak performance
  • Prepare custom analysis and detailed reporting for sales management and accounts
  • Provide customer service support for elevated account and sales management issues
  • Actively identify and implement process improvements pertinent to day-to-day management of accounts
  • Support and conduct trainings for outside sales staff on a regular basis
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred (BA/BS in Business management preferred)
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Intermediate-to-advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite
  • Sales force software experience highly preferred, but not required
  • Strong presentation skills; can effectively deliver company trainings
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable, flexible
  • Able to creatively problem solve efficiently and effectively
  • Excels in working collaboratively with others; strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with tremendous accuracy
  • Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record
  • Able to inspire and train other employees

Supervisory Responsibility: This position holds no supervisory responsibility.

Accountability: Reports directly to the Senior Director of Southern California

Works Directly with: Funeral Planning Center, Field Sales Management, External Customers, members and leaders of all departments in the company.

Work Environment: Part of this job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Part of this job requires frequent travel to and from the Anaheim office to support sales trainings

Travel: Frequent travel within the Southern California region, 2-5 days per week, depending on workload. Travel to company headquarters in Portland, Oregon, on an as-needed basis, up to 6 times per year

Physical Demands: Ability to sit for periods of time, including as a driver or passenger in an automobile. Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 25 pounds and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 25 pounds
