Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor who can manage a team of accountants responsible for preparing monthly accounting journal entries, reconciliations and commission calculations as well as the analysis of key accounts and results of operations. This person will assist the Assistant Controller in ensuring timely monthly/quarterly/year-end closes, as well as assist in annual audit preparations.

The Accounting Supervisor will have the necessary problem-solving skills to research and resolve any financial issues that arise as well as the technical skills to quickly research and resolve ERP system issues. We are looking for a professional with supervisory and relevant accounting experience. This position requires the resourcefulness to take on new projects and constantly look for process improvements.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in accounting and is flexible, eager and willing to take on a challenge.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the month-end close process.
  • Review work of accountants for accuracy and establish proper work standards.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet and P&L variance/flux analysis and more complex financial analysis as necessary.
  • Responsible for time management of staff and meeting required deadlines.
  • Work directly with other departments to coordinate the gathering of information necessary for accounting close, audit, compliance and other projects.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of general ledger accounts, departments and other pertinent GL data.
  • Collect and analyze financial data and assist in the development of financial reports.
  • Formulate, implement, document and monitor policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Train, develop, mentor and counsel employees to further their professional growth.
  • Perform special assignments and complete projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects concurrently in a timely manner.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve issues.
  • Sufficient written and verbal skills to clearly and effectively communicate across departments, organizational affiliates as well as with higher management.
  • Sound knowledge of US GAAP combined with the ability to research and resolve accounting issues.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Five years or more of experience in general accounting, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • BS in Accounting, or equivalent field, required
