Job Description

Volt has partnered with a leading aerospace manufacturing company to find their next Press Brake Operator. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with competitive salary and benefits located in Burbank Ca. This role is Second Shift, starting at approx 3pm.

Summary:  Able to operate various types and sizes of hand or power brakes, bending and forming sheet metal parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following and all other duties as assigned. Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Operates various types and sizes of power brakes on routine and repetitive work.
  • Operates power brake to form various types of flat metal stock such as banding, making joggles, and angle bends.
  • May finish-form partially formed punch press, hydro press, and drop hammer parts where standard procedure been developed.
  • Recognizes improper functioning of press and reports condition to others.
  • Assist Brake Operator as required.
  • Performs rework, repair and other associated operations described.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Education and/or Experience:  High school education or equivalent & 1-2 years’ experience in an industrial environment.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 

Materials Worked With:  Materials worked on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in the form of flat and shaped parts.

Materials worked with: Lubricants.

Tools used: Hand tools, measuring instruments and templates.  Must always have complete set of personal tools adequate to perform the work covered by the job classification.

Equipment used: Dies and power brakes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.,

 Must work on the shop manufacturing floor, which contains various environmental conditions such as exposure to industrial machinery, dust/metallic particles, & noise.

To use hand tools and accessories to properly perform required operations.  To follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able read blueprints.
