Job Description

VOLT’s client is looking for a CAD Drafter.

This is an estimated long-term Contingent/Temporary position in Spokane, WA. This is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support many of the top-rated IT companies in the US!


  • Prepares detailed drawings of new or modified substation and generation construction in the following drafting disciplines: electrical, civil/mechanical and architectural. Working from notes, sketches & verbal instructions from the project engineer
  • Prepares complex railroad, highway and government agency permit application drawing for crossings or encroachments of electric & gas facilities using field sketches, survey notes and calculations & standards books for appropriate clearances.
  • Prepares plan & profile maps for new or modified electric transmission facilities using field survey notes and engineer’s layout and verbal instructions
  • Prepares Underground Network distribution drawings to include maps, duct face drawing, structural and electrical equipment wiring & schematics
  • Prepare construction drawings for new, modified or “as built” natural gas facilities including piping, materials list, location drawings and details
  • Prepares Records of survey & Certificates of Survey from survey field notes and sketches provided by licensed surveyor
  • Performs field checks to gather “as built” information to be used for preparing up to date drawing for existing or recently constructed facilities
  • Updates Substation, Generation, Transmission, & Natural Gas facilities drawings from Rely & Test prints, C&M Maintenance reports and “As Built” prints


  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • AAS degree or equivalent in drafting plus company technical courses in basic electricity I & II and natural gas theory
  • 18-36 months of directly related work experience, preferably with company.
  • The ability to communicate using technical terminology and the ability to comprehend and retain knowledge of the work performed.
