Job Description

At Volt we specialize in placing accounting and finance professionals. We are working with a client that has an immediate need for a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). The (CAO) will be responsible for overseeing Corporate Accounting and reporting to the CFO.

Job Description:

The CAO will oversee all areas of Corporate Accounting. This includes the production of monthly consolidated financial statements incompliance with US GAAP Standards. The CAO will act as a business partner on day-to-day accounting and finance matters. The CAO will be seen as a key point of contact for operational accounting and related activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the accounting operations internal, control systems and policies and procedures.
  • Manage and review the month-end closing, financial reporting process and analytical review of monthly and quarterly activity
  • Perform Quarterly/Annual external reporting and compliance with SEC requirements
  • Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly and quarterly as appropriate
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Implement internal management reporting including and interface with external parties
  • Communicate with department line managers to gain full understanding monthly variances 
  • Investigate significant changes in monthly/quarterly/annual fluctuations and budget to actuals
  • Prepare commentaries explaining variances to prior months, prior year, budget, and Wall Street guidance 
  • Participate in strategic projects to improve profitability and efficiency of the company
  • Provide analytical tools and reports to support decision making
  • Oversee the daily operational departmental  functions
  • Develop and present dashboards for each line of business and create weekly metrics and KPIs reports
  • Reconcile and interpret KPI metrics to the financial statements and prepare gap analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA is a must. MBA is a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Public Accounting experience in a must (Big 4 preferred)
  • 10-years plus experience working for a in a mid/large-sized company in a similar role
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of corporate accounting/financial reporting/external reporting experience
  • Proven leadership skills     
  • Strong Excel and must possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, able to prioritize
  • Experience in developing and fostering a team environment
