VOLT has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking an Cisco Network Engineer to work onsite at our client’s facility in San Diego, CA. This is a contingent position expected to last approximately 1 year(s).

Candidate Responsibilities
Sr. Network Analyst as an Information Technology (IT) Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work both independently and with a cooperative team on complex projects that may span multiple infrastructure components or applications. You will develop your professional network and leadership skills, assisting in the creation and support of IT Solutions that enable Caterpillar success. Further, you will contribute real value by developing, integrating, and/or supporting in-house and purchased applications or infrastructure solutions to solve business problems. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and administering an enterprise-class network infrastructure, including LAN, MAN and WAN services for Caterpillar’s wholly owned subsidiary, Solar Turbines Incorporated. The position will support the network requirements of in-house and purchased applications and infrastructure.

Typical Day
• Provide project management, systems, and/or system administration leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members • Work on more complex technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls • Work independently on complex projects that span multiple infrastructure components • Design and implement processes, or process improvements, to aid in development and support

Education Requirements:
• Computer-related or Engineering-related four year College or University Degree OR three to six years of progressively responsible IT job-related experiences. • Cisco certifications, including CCNA, CCDP, CCNP, etc. preferred

Experience Requirements:  
• 7 plus years supporting an enterprise level network infrastructure (data centers, redundant architecture, LRD, firewalls, etc.) • Experience supporting Cisco based networking equipment and the associated protocols, disciplines and concepts, including 6500 series and Nexus series switches, routers, cable plants, firewalls, LAN, WAN, MAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, DHCP, latency, bandwidth, Voice over IP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, PPP, MPLS • Experience supporting data center converged architecture and server load balancing • Experience troubleshooting network related enterprise application performance problems • Experience troubleshooting general IT related problems such as those involving general applications, desktop, wireless networking, configuration of software, driver problems, etc. • Experience running network infrastructure projects. • Experience configuring enterprise level DMZ /Low Risk Domain environments, firewalls preferred • Operating Systems background and experience, including Windows, UNIX and Linux is preferred • Competent to perform all development, integration and system administration assignments without close supervision
