The Contracts Specialist is responsible for reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of many different staffing contracts to capture and implement agreed-upon business concepts with customers and suppliers. Contracts Specialists will determine the extent to which contract terms and conditions meet the standards established by Volt and will negotiate terms and conditions of different customer contracts to capture and implement agreed-upon business concepts and requirements. This includes drafting and modifying contract language, analyzing contract liabilities, and providing support, analysis and responses within stringent time frames in order to meet deadlines. This position requires significant field interaction on a national level and ongoing communication with Volt senior managers and Volt customers.


Contracts Specialists review, negotiate, and draft contract terms and conditions, manage approval elevations, administer and maintain contract documents and files, report information on contract requirements to Volt functional departments, provide research and interpretation of existing contract requirements, review and draft contract amendments and renewals, as appropriate.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Successfully establish and negotiate new contracts and amendments working closely with both Volt management and Volt customers.
* Use comprehensive contractual knowledge, extensive knowledge of applicable U.S. federal, state and local laws and ordinances, and management skills to assess potential contractual obligations and determine alternative approaches to equitably apportion risk.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation are required.
* Effectively communicate in-person, verbally including by telephone, and in writing, with internal staff, external customers and field employees.
* Articulate and persuasive communication and negotiation skills.
* Create contractual provisions to capture and implement agreed-upon business concepts and review such with customers and internally submit such provisions for applicable review and approval. Work this process with customers and/or suppliers until final agreement is reached.
* Advise management of the likely effects that customer provisions may have on VWS operations (i.e., let these organizations know what these provisions "really mean") and how to minimize VWS exposure.
* Administer existing contracts with customers and maintain according contract files.
* Provide support, analysis and responses to issues and questions from Volt business team and other Volt departments.
* Evaluate performance terms and conditions (and other miscellaneous bidding requirements) provided with customer RFP/RFIs.
* Develop a summary of issues that VWS should highlight and respond to as part of the RFP/RFQ response, and work with management to reach agreement on those provisions.
* Serve as a liaison between Volt business leadership, other Volt departments, and VWS Legal on certain contract issues.
* Work with VWS Operations, Accounting and other inter-departments to resolve contract and operational issues.
Position Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
* Bachelor's Degree or higher; J.D. a plus
* Three plus years Contracts experience within the service industry including writing summary reports and negotiation of terms preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
* Communicate with diplomacy and tact, especially in verbal communication.
* Articulate and persuasive communication and negotiation skills.
* Demonstrated customer service capabilities
* Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment is also a must.
* Attention to detail and strong time management and organizational skills
