Job Description

DIRECT HIRE - BIG 4 experience required!!!!!  (no exceptions)

  • Assist in creating best accounting practices in line with accounting regulations
  • Preparing and reviewing audit schedules, preparing financial statements and footnotes, answering auditors’ questions, and resolving problems
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations 
  • Review and close weekly, bi-weekly, monthly financial reports
  • Prepare account reconciliations for GL accounts, bank accounts, and lines of credits 
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the General Ledger
  • Oversees the Company's accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Create and maintain report functions in the Yardi application
  • Establish standard operating process for budgeting, financial reporting, cash management and revenue recognition, expenditures and fixed assets to ensure accuracy and completeness and integrity of financial statements and other financial information
  • Job Cost budget/variance analysis
  • Maintain a filing system for all financial documents
  • Filing income tax return, franchise tax return and other tax returns
  • Support Finance & Accounting Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other department or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial documents
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA or CFA preferred
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of SEC regulations and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and legislation
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Exchange, Excel, Outlook; DocuSign)
  • Working knowledge of Yardi and Premier Construction
  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently 
  • Previous management experience a plus
