Control System Engineer- Redmond, WA

This company located in Redmond, WA has an exciting opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer as a key member in our Product Development team.  As the Control Systems Engineer, you will perform MEMS and Laser control development, optimization, and automation.  Collaborating with various engineering teams including MEMS, Electrical, and Embedded Software Engineering teams.



  • Model and develop controllers for non-resonant MEMS mirrors to meet product requirements
  • Optimize existing MEMS controllers for fast response and immunity to external stimulus such as vibration and temperature change
  • Characterize system behavior for both laser and MEMS hardware, using internal and external feedback
  • Develop automation for MEMS mirror scanning calibration and communicate controller calibration needs with manufacturing teams
  • Integrate laser and MEMS controllers into existing real-time systems
  • Verify system performance under a variety of conditions and document results
  • Specify requirements for control interface to MEMS, hardware, embedded software, and manufacturing teams


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related field, Masters preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in control systems.  Open to junior to senior level experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of closed loop control development for motion control
  • Knowledge of system characterization techniques and control strategies to reach target specifications
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for hands on development on hardware, collecting and manipulating sensor data
  • Experience with development of real time controllers in embedded systems or FPGAs
  • High proficiency in Python for scripting and data analysis
  • Knowledge of embedded systems concepts
  • Experience with EE lab equipment, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in MEMS control
  • Experience developing in C/C++ and familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts
  • Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink modelling and model matching
  • Solid understanding of frequency domain analysis and basic DSP concepts
  • Experience with model-based design concepts
