Job Description

Summary:

The Electrical test engineer will apply the principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals that benefits to the client's business. The candidate will work closely with the design team to develop, design, and test electro-mechanical products intended for the access control industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned electrical engineering activities from conceptual design through system fabrication, testing and the transition to production.
  • Designs and develops testing solutions for developing electro-mechanical products.
  • Strong background in the design and construction of custom automated assembly testers preferred.
  • Communicates and coordinates with outside labs when required to complete testing.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electronics; including creating analog and digital designs with embedded microprocessors. Capable of designing Printed Circuit Board layouts, with familiarity of construction techniques and PCB assembly.
  • Works with a cross-functional team providing engineering support from concept evaluation, procurement, manufacturing and product support.
  • Provide testing solutions that address product requirements. 
  • Formally report product status and testing results.
  • Apply fundamental engineering principles to design challenges while being aware of the implications of cost, schedule and manufacturability of the product.
  • Maintain an awareness of changes in the industry and in the development of components that may assist future design activities.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineer or related field.
  • Relies on a minimum of four years of electrical and electro-mechanical design experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong electronic trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in electronic packaging and PCB design.
  • Experience with Altium (preferred) or OrCad.
  • Strong experience in electronic instrumentation and testing tools as well as familiarity with electro-mechanical instrumentation.
  • Experience with designing embedded systems
  • Ability to write/review C/C++ code for embedded microprocessors is preferred. 
  • Experience with testing code such as Python and LabView is considered a plus
  • Ability to read/write English, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to write articles for publication and presentation that conform to prescribed style and format.
