Director/VP of Engineering

This position is responsible for new product development associated with software and hardware engineering.  Such leadership includes mentoring/coaching teams and managing resources involved in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting software and hardware applications. The role involves providing technical leadership and strategy for industrial system architecture, application design and deliverance of advanced software and user-interfaces. 


  • 3+ years’ experience leading technical teams of designer/architect engineers, including making critical decisions.
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • 15+ years with preferred background in industrial product design, specifically related to software and electrical hardware
  • Proven track record managing software development teams with related hardware knowledge
  • Low level firmware interfaces knowledge such as VARAN, Ethernet, CAN, is preferred
  • Demonstratable knowledgeable of IT infrastructure platforms such as GITHUB, Jira, DoorsNG, Jerkins, Azure, Docker
  • Hands on experience involving technical reviews and decision making

Functional Scope

Leads research and development activities related to introducing new software and hardware product related platforms.   Using agile principles enables and empowers advanced R&D development teams to deliver new system engineered solutions to the marketplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assesses complex technical challenges and offers solutions related to software and hardware
  • Applies leadership knowledge of application architecture principles and standards to drive engineering best practices
  • Defines practices, processes, outputs and oversees solution architecture and design
  • Provides leadership in the development of software and related quality assurance principles (i.e., verification and validation)
  • Develop a high performing software and hardware engineering organization agile methodology
  • Controls and improves research and development by analyzing and recommending changes in process, policies and procedures
  • Provides thought-leadership in development of code management, build, and deployment standards, practices, and controls
  • Partners with IT function to establish infrastructure to support software and controls platforms.
  • Applies knowledge of applicable software development tools and application hosting platforms
  • Oversees and provides technical direction to multiple software R&D engineering teams
  • Partners with stakeholders to develop, monitor, and control software and hardware plans
  • Responsible for overseeing the development of large-scale real-time system design for advanced user-interface platforms
  • Responsible for overseeing software development associated with Linux, Embedded, web, and IoT domains

  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), and understanding of software development life cycle models
