Job Description

VOLT has an immediate openings for a DRY STORAGE ASSOCIATE for the 1st shift. We are seeking candidates with Food Processing experience.

(1) Positions: Temp to Hire

Shift: Full time, 1st, weekends, and overtime as needed

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50

Education: Minimum High School Diploma

Experience: 6 months’ experience working with an electric pallet jack and/or standup forklift

Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish is a MUST!

The Dry Storage Wrangler is responsible for all aspects of picking, packing, receiving and movement of goods within the dry storage warehouse, spice trailer, packing trailer and portion of the cooler. This person must be able to multitask, provide quick responses/solutions to unforeseen production problems, and must always exhibit a professional, efficient demeanor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains material handing equipment by completing pre-use inspections daily
  • Unloads and receives all Ingredients and Supplies (not meat), verifies the quantity received against the BOL and confirms expiration dates and lot codes match
  • Ensures all packaging and ingredients are put away in designated locations; Ensures all items are labeled and PO’s and delivery paperwork is turned in to Customer Service & Planning Manager
  • Unloads and receives boxes and delivers items to the Box Room
  • Receives UPS/ FedEx Deliveries and delivers to correct department and/or puts away; ensures all packing slips are pulled and turned in to Customer Service & Planning Manager
  • Maintains and ensures Dry Storage, Spice & Packaging Trailers, and assigned areas of Cooler are stocked and organized
  • Manages ingredients stored in Cooler/Freezer, checking expiration dates, moving product between Cooler and Freezer, and cleaning out expired product; Cycle Count’s inventory and turns in data for adjustments/ordering
  • Prepares/pulls/stages product for next day production; Manages lotted inventory (spices)
  • Ensures dry storage and all exterior areas are clear of debris/trash
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Enforces Good Manufacturing Practices and safety regulations
  • Follows all safety guidelines; Reports any work-related injuries to HR as soon as possible (no later than 24 hours)
  • Accountable to fill out paperwork timely and correctly throughout the shift
  • Answers radio requests; Responds to questions and solves problems

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimal High School or GED
  • 1-year experience in a Food Processing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP’s; HACCP Certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience with Meat Processing
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience driving cherry picker and scan guns
  • USDA Trained
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
