DUT Inspection/Fabrication Lab Technician - Estimated 6 month contingent position

VOLT is working with our client, a world leader in the electronics component manufacturing industry, as they continue to grow and add to the team!  We are seeking an experienced DUT Inspection/Fabrication Lab Technician for an estimated 6 month contingent opportunity.  

The DUT Inspection/Fabrication Lab Technician can expect to:

  • Build and modify high speed cables and wire assemblies with crimped terminals for various mechanical, environmental, & electrical tests using both manual and automated tools.
  • Perform soldering, selective soldering, and/or SMT reflow
  • Execute Visual Inspections at high magnification, 2D/3D stitching
  • IPC 610 solder joint evaluations
  • Analyze, document, and communicate test results
  • Work closely with various Project Leaders to ensure efficient and timely project deliverables to customers

What you need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years’ work experience in a related field; OR an Associate’s degree and 3+ years’ work experience in a related field required
  • Experience with Interconnects, Coax, Twisted Pair, Power/Signal wires, etc.
  • Experience with any of the following wire preparation and termination techniques: crimped, soldered, and/or welded Terminations
  • Hand soldering experience
  • Proficient in reading and executing test plans
  • Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and in a team
  • Ability to remain flexible when changes arise
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • IPC-A-610 certification for inspection
  • Experience with hand soldering thermocouples and small components
  • SMT reflow experience (i.e. solder paste screening with stencils)
  • Measurement tools (i.e. drop gauge, dimensional measurements using microscope software)
  • Experience using lab equipment such as contact resistance meter, microscopes, event detectors, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
  • Root cause failure analysis & trouble shooting skills of interconnects / wire terminations
  • Experience using Test Plan development & management tools is a plus
