Job Description

Our client, a leading technology company and defense contractor, is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Controls) for its offices in Tucson AZ.  This position will work on challenging technical problems associated with motor control drives used in servo applications, and will serve as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for complex circuit card assembly design efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Design BLDC motor control drives used in servo applications.
  • Create analytical models (SPICE, MAST, VHDL-AMS, MATLAB, Mathcad, Excel, etc.) which prove compliance to performance specifications.
  • Direct printed circuit layout of high speed designs.
  • Design control loops and analyze stability of linear control systems.
  • Generate and/or compile all required analysis and documentation verifying compliance with program and performance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Circuit design experience with PWM drives used for motors with voltages >130 VDC and up to 90 Amps. Design experience with position feedback and measurement systems.
  • Design experience with servo control systems.
  • Professional experience with thermal concerns of electronics.
  • Professional design, analysis, and test experience with analog electronic design and analysis, including FET, BJT, and Op-amp circuits, as well as linear converters and non-isolated converter technologies (buck, boost, and/or buck/boost). 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience creating and giving complex technical presentations.
