Job Description

Volt is looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer for our client. Our client has custom digital applications that have been installed and commissioned on a wide range of VIP/VVIP narrow body and widebody platforms in addition to numerous private and utility jet, turboprop, and helicopter models.

The product line covers every facet of in-flight entertainment and cabin management control including entertainment, lighting, call, temperature, audio/video on demand, tablet integration, real-time 3-D moving map, and much more. They also offer customized graphical user interfaces accessible on touchscreens, allowing seamless and intuitive control of the IFE/CMS system.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure systems functions for aircraft. 
  • Develop interfaces and code to control embedded systems that interface to GUIs
  • Produce efficient and reusable code based on requirements
  • Develop, test and deploy programs and applications
  • Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software 
  • Compile and assess user feedback to improve software performance
  • Observe user feedback to recommend improvements to existing software products
  • Ensure continued functionality of a program during maintenance and testing of software
  • Revisit the development process to fix bugs or address client or consumer concerns

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Embedded Systems 
  • Deep knowledge of one or more C, C#, C++ or Java, python
  • Deep knowledge of one or more OS, LINUX, Windows, Android, iOS
  • Networking protocols HTTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, UDP, L2, L3, and good understanding of switching and routing
  • Network application development experience 
  • Embedded systems/software development experience
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment with quickly changing priorities and requirements
  • Ability to figure out complex issues that could span software, network and hardware.
  • Ability to write test applications and tools to aid in configuration, integration, debugging and support
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Nice to Have:

  • Proficiency with multiple languages, C++, LUA scripting, python, JAVA
  • Experience working on complex network-based software projects
  • Knowledge of C++/object-oriented programs, SQL, web application development, security and open source technologies
