Job Description

Direct Hire: Embedded Systems Engineer

Volt is partnering with a world leader in industry-leading heavy construction equipment, lighting systems and generators for an Embedded Systems Engineer in either their Fargo, or Bismarck, ND, locations.

This is an exciting opportunity due to their rapid growth and innovative technologies.

The qualified candidate will:

Develop/test embedded software and hardware for control of electrical systems. This includes but not limited to: control systems for loaders, AWS, compact tractors and excavators. 

Required documentation/Software project scope

  • Requirements documentation/ System project scope.
  • Maintain and develop requirements for new and existing electrical systems.
  • Estimate numbers of requirements for a given project (Scope & Effort).
  • Estimate effort required and time to implement those requirements. Attend and lead requirement reviews meetings on a weekly basis and as project needs require.
  • Maintain/create requirement documentation for systems and controllers
  • Manage requirements documentation for these systems and controllers using software configuration management, requirements management tools and with MS Office documents

Hardware

  • Work with functional groups on determining electrical hardware needs for various systems
  • Guide design work and ensure component selection meets requirements
  • Work with suppliers to implement and validate hardware designs
  • Research new components and circuitry
  • Develop new systems components as needed for R&D and production use.

Software Process

  • Work with SW manager to continuously develop software process improvements.
  • Keep all software work products up to date using configuration management tools and defect tracking tools.
  • Use company’s Software development lifecycle to insure quality development of embedded software work products.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering.  
  • Systems experience; experience with vehicular electrical systems and vehicular communication networks preferred.
  • 2+ years industry experience.
  • Experience in the operation of off-highway equipment preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Use of standard computer programs such as MS Office.
