Injection Molding Engineer III

Job Summary

Direct interface and technical project management of multiple customer or business driven projects working in a team environment.  Apply lean principles, process engineering, extrusion and/or polymer science expertise to optimize manufacturability, equipment utilization, develop or adjust processes for extruded or blow-molded products in a customer-centric organization.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrable polymer science extrusion/blow molding expertise and results in process engineering, project management, application of statistical techniques and business improvement commensurate with the level
  • Determines product specifications incorporating product design drawings, notes, process capabilities, customer requirements, performance standards and directing/oversight of technical studies necessary to assess capability, improve performance, and enable breakthrough capability
  • Drives customer-driven medical component project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans; conferring with lead engineer(s), customers, sales managers, other development sites, customer account managers and local management
  • Processes customer quotes on time using the activity-based costing model and quoting processes
  • Drives project schedules to on-time, on-budget completion by studying project plans and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements, executing assigned tasks per the plan and ensuring full-stream completion of required activities
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, schedule change and recommended actions.
  • Manages scope creep
  • Communicates with customers at the frequency appropriate for the project conditions and customer needs
  • Prepares weekly summary and/or other project related communications for use by upper management to quantify project status - summarizes information and trends and recommend appropriate actions
  • Drive conformance to the Engineering Transfer Protocol (ETP)
  • Drives investigation and corrective action of customer complaints, NCs and CAPAs

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Polymer Science (preferred), Materials Science other Engineering degrees (considered). Masters in Polymer Science, MBA (preferred)
  • 10+ years’ experience and/or demonstrated expertise
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience; Black Belt projects desired
