We’re hiring Wireless Baseband DSP Engineer (Principal) in Richardson TX

Position Description:

Development and implementation of 5G baseband DSP architecture and interface coordination.  Extraction of wireless network requirements from 3GPP, xRAN, eCPRI, IEEE1914, etc to define virtualized RAN and BBU architectures and requirements.  Specification of 5G virtualized BBU capabilities and features.  Distill requirements derived from 5G use cases including enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low latency, massive IoT, and fixed wireless access use cases to define RAN architectures, requirements, and functionality.  Coordinate between customers, technology partners, and internal business units to develop 5G products and network solutions that provide maximum value and profitability.  Support end-to-end execution of system specification, architecture definition, network element hardware and software development, system integration and verification, network integration, and interoperability testing.


  • Direct experience in development of LTE BBU functions including LTE PHY, MAC, Scheduling, RLC, PDCP, and RRC.
  • Direct experience in developing DSP architecture and implementation of physical layer functions such as forward error correction, HARQ processing, iFFT, FFT, MIMO precoder, resource scheduler, OFDM modulator/demodulator.
  • Experience in architecture and working knowledge of RAN fronthaul (CPRI) and backhaul (S1) interfaces for control and user planes.
  • Experience in planning 3G/4G RAN architecture and migration toward network features including Cloud RAN, SON, COMP, and network virtualization.
  • Experience in developing macro and small cell RAN architectures for LTE and LTE-Advanced
  • Experience in development of data, control, and maintenance planes of of LTE stack layers L1, L2, and L3.
  • Experience in coordination of network synchronization based on IEEE-1588.
  • Background in execution of network capacity and latency analysis and optimization
  • Knowledge of wireless infrastructure architectures and air interface standards including LTE and HSPA and advanced MIMO techniques including MU-MIMO and massive MIMO.
  • Skilled in thorough documentation of requirements and architectures and presentation of network architecture concepts.

Experience:        Minimum of 10 years direct experience.

Education:          Bachelors of Science or a related field with 12 years of experience or Masters of Science or a related field with 8 of experience.  Advance degree preferred.
