Job Description

Volt is hiring in Maiden, NC!! We are currently looking for Facilities Maintenance techs.

This is a night shift position. Working Wednesday to Sunday 6 pm to 6 am 

Pay rate $28-$30.00 per hour depending on experience. 

Responsible for performing and assisting with preventative and ongoing maintenance for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other infrastructure systems in mission-critical data centers to ensure operational efficiency and maximum facility uptime. Regularly inspects and monitors equipment and responds to irregular or malfunctioning conditions. Responds quickly to emergency situations that may be detrimental to the facility’s operations and coordinates with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs. Complies with organizational and governmental standards for operations and work safety. May maintain multiple components including HVAC systems, air or liquid cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, power distribution units, fire systems, life safety systems, etc. Monitors equipment and responds to irregular conditions.



• Perform maintenance activities according to prescribed tasks to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business

• Accurate and timely completion of work order requests that include performing equipment inspections through the daily recording of rounds and readings

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities including all building systems.

• Work with the client and data center personnel to schedule equipment to be taken off line so that preventative maintenance can be performed.

• Monitor operation of electrical and mechanical equipment supporting the facility and facility’s critical operations.

• Provide vendor support for project and task oversight

• Responsible for ensuring government regulatory compliance, EPA/OSHA compliance, safety program, CFC handling, and other similar programs with direction from their management team.

• Must be able to immediately respond to operational and emergency situations

• Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications

• Must demonstrate an understanding of risk mitigation practices and their application in critical sites.

• Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize and demonstrate excellent time management.

• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and over current protective devices.

• Familiarity with sophisticated equipment monitoring, alarm, and building automated management systems in all aspects of life safety and fire alarm systems.

• Thorough understanding of MP & E and their control systems.

• Must be a team player committed to working in a continuously improving, quality environment.

• Requires knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals sufficient to deal with service and repairs in a Critical Environment, with preference to Data Center infrastructure experience.

• Advanced knowledge of safety procedures and equipment, procedures and established techniques.

Physical Factors 

•  Typically on their feet for up to 12 hours per day.

•  Lift, carry, push/pull up to 75 lbs. Average products weigh between 25 lb. - 50 lbs. Equipment lifts are provided for larger items.

•  Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull and reach as required, on a continuous basis, throughout their shift.

•  Requires ability to climb and utilize ladders, personnel lifts, and scaffolding.

•  Requires the use of hand tools and test equipment

•  Use of appropriate PPE will be required and may include the use of safety glasses, shoes, gloves, and face shields.

•  Work in confined spaces.


Work Schedule

•  Critical Facilities Technicians operate on a rotating schedule working shifts varying from 8 hours to 12 hours per day with an average 40 hour work week.

•  Overtime may be required depending on business needs.

  Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime as required.
