Job Description

Volt is looking for an Facilities Mechanical Engineer to work on-site with our customer John Deere located in Waterloo, IA in a contingent position forecasted for 11 months. As a Facility Mechanical Engineer, you will have the primary responsibility to provide overall Project Management for the implementation of facilities infrastructure projects. Some specific duties of this position are:

  • Responsible for overall project management of facility infrastructure projects including compressed air systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, industrial gas/fluid systems, energy management, and fire protection systems. Lead value engineering efforts to produce a cost-effective designs.
  • Communicate and ensure a collaborative environment with high performance teamwork with Unit leadership, Manufacturing Engineering, environmental staff, supply management, facilities staff, consultants, and contractors.
  • Provide life, safety and building code analysis on facilities projects and support and implement programs within the organization to prevent injuries and illnesses. Assist in the identification and resolution of potential environmental, safety, ergonomic and health hazards.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for management approval.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience with site and building Mechanical Engineering infrastructure systems, building codes, and facilities design.
  • Demonstrated medium complexity multi-discipline project management experience on projects of up to $10M in capital spend focusing on schedule, budget and quality expectations with the ability to prioritize multiple active projects simultaneously.
  • 3-5 years of experience in procuring and coordinating multiple skilled trades, contractors, and outside consultants to achieve project objectives.
  • Experience with applying industrial facilities systems infrastructure (HVAC, plumbing, hydraulics, gas/fluid distribution, etc.) design principles in or to support a manufacturing environment.
  • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety standards.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and/or Maintenance is recommended.  Cross function experience in other areas, such as Supply Management, Quality, Environment, or Safety is desirable.


Desired Skills, Knowledge & Relevant Work Experience

  • Registration as a licensed professional engineer or equivalent.
  • Formal project management training and PMP Certificate (Project Management Professional).
  • Knowledge of construction industry project delivery methods, controls, and construction contract management.
  • Cross competency experience with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Supervision, Supply Management, Environmental, or Maintenance Engineering.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling and Integrated Project Delivery Methods.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Safety standards, quality and environmental laws, regulations and goals.


Education (Specific Branch of Study, Certificate)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License desirable
  • PMP certificate (Project Management Professional) desirable

Must be available to work on W2 for Volt. No C2C or 3rd party vendors please.
