Volt is seeking a Factory Automation Engineer to work onsite at John Deere’s Engine Works facility in Waterloo, IA.  This is a contingent position forecasted for over one year.  Within this role, you will provide troubleshooting support of production equipment for manufacturing, distribution and maintenance operations. This may also include supporting troubleshooting facility infrastructure. In addition, you will:

  • Respond to critical production down situations affecting manufacturing and/or operations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform intermediate to advanced professional controls engineering (e.g. Electrical machine controls design; Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming; Personal Computer (PC) programming; Computer Numerical Control (CNC); Robotics, Data management) assignments of specific engineering tasks.
  • Provide shop floor production support

Safety shoes and safety glasses required.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Required Skills:

  • Experience with the following:  PLC, VFD, RFID, Vision system (Camera and barcode), AutoCAD or AutoCAD electrical, and HMI
  • Experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting Factory Automation Devices; PLC Programming using Rockwell Automation, Programming Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Variable Frequency Drives, Communication protocols for electrical design and equipment control
  • Flexibility to provide off shift support
