I have a Direct Hire position for a Food Technician that we are looking to hire IMMEDIATELY for leading innovator, designer and producer of custom savory and bakery products worldwide. Below is the description:

Summary

The person in this position is responsible for supporting Bakkavor’s and Customer technical product information. Regulatory Guidelines (USDA / FDA) and Special Certifications (Kosher, Organic, Gluten Free, Non GMO). This position is part of Bakkavor USA Central Technical Department and reports indirectly to the Corporate Technical Services Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

I. Regulatory/Technical Expertise

  • Finished Product/Materials
  • Responsible for the development of FDA/USDA finished product labels and technical information such as, but not limited to, ingredient statements, NLEA, annual label verification compliance, and validation of legal claims.
  • Assures accuracy and integrity of raw materials and finished good in Genesis Database.
  • Supports the R&D team to ensure at time of management feasibility and future updates of product and regulatory requirements.
  • Updates and maintains QA database with collected analytical data from R&D and Process. Also, audits and reviews current products.
  • Updates and maintains shelf life reference sheet, finished product reference sheet, and products quality testing log.
  • Accountable for technical signoff/mockups for packaging involving checking artwork against designer signoff.
  • Updates and maintains customer database. Also, creates customer technical data sheets for customers that have no databases.
  • Able to work effectively with other team members within department and cross-functionally in order to achieve projects/tasks in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Conducts annual review of product specifications for accuracy and compliance to regulations, Company and Customer requirements.
  • Supports USDA label submission and approval along with maintenance of historical files for product labels. Uses the USDA/FSIS Label Submission Approval System (LSAS)
  • Supports Supplier and Materials approval process by retrieving and reviewing supplier records.
  • Maintains supplier data up to date and reports any gaps and/or potential issues to management.
  • Quality and Food Safety Systems
  • Supports the maintenance of Bakkavor Product Specifications Database.
  • Other duties as assigned by technical and site management team.
  • Leadership
  • Promotes Safety and teamwork across all departments.
  • Actively participates and carry out effective meetings to support team and company objectives to assure delivery of project within budget and planned timelines.

II. Customer Focus

  • Supports the resolution of customer feedback and identification of root causes and corrective/preventive actions as related to technical manners.
  • Represent Bakkavor technical team in customer meetings (including on customer site) and assure communication (written/verbal) between all parties in a professional manner and assure proper confidentiality and conflict of interest.
  • Maintain project lists and status up to date to assure delivery of goals within time and budget.
  • Coordinates accurate technical information between parties to support input of information in to customer’s databases and development of internal materials such as, but not limited to, recipes, ingredient nutritional information, product/ingredients allergen profile, validation of product claims, product/ingredients specifications, serving size, boards /brochures.
  • Maintains all related customer information in a confidential and organized manner.
  • Assures compliance to safety requirements when visiting suppliers and customers.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

B.S. degree from a 4- year university In Food Science or related field is preferred.

Five Years Food Industry Or Equivalent Experience Required

Experience using Genesis Software

HACCP Certification Preferred

Seafood HACCP Certification Preferred

Language Skills

USDA/FDA Regulatory Labeling Training Preferred

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
