Job Description

Volt is hiring a team of Game Testers for our client, a leader in the gaming industry, to perform Quality Assurance testing at their office in Austin, TX. This is a long-term temporary position expected to last between 8-12 months with the possibility of extension.

Role Summary

Video game experts who leverages a basic understanding of the fundamental test process to execute tasks that are provided to them. You will be testing video games to detect bugs and errors in different levels of the games, while working alongside game designers and programmers to ensure a game works flawlessly before they send the game out to the market.


  • Execute provided testing tasks with an emphasis on manual test execution, test library maintenance, and test closure activities
  • Be a creative thinker who can test for ‘edge cases’ outside of expected functionality
  • Responsible for working within project management (i.e. JIRA) and test related tools (i.e. TestRail)
  • Advocate of the user experience through delivery of qualitative reporting
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Video game testers need to very observant along with good analytical and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills will also be very helpful in properly performing the tasks.
  • Focused and must have an eye for details to site all errors present on a certain game they are working on.
  • Understanding of basic test execution principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate and timely reporting
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Passion for games and software quality
  • Lastly, enthusiasm and patience is very important in the position for it may be repetitive.

Preferred/Optional Qualifications:

  • Gray box and white box testing experience
  • Familiar with: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL
  • CTFL, ISTQB® or equivalent
  • High-level of gaming knowledge and/or skill
