The HR Generalist to partner in all generalist aspects of managing human capital, such as talent acquisition, candidate sourcing, recruitment support & screening candidates, positive employee relations initiatives and programs, building training and development and help on a tactical level to drive the overall organizational development needs.  Support executive leadership in general administrative support. Job Duties

  • HR Generalist
    • Partner with the business to deliver HR support in driving the business strategy and goals
    • Handling day to day HR matters related to production and non-production employees
    • Fostering a culture of open communication and positive employee relations
    • Able to build trust and handle confidential matters
    • Can handle time critical situations and assess risk
    • Provide guidance and coaching to first level supervisors on day to day employee issues
    • HR policy interpretation and recommendations as needed
    • Using judgment and escalating to Global Director of HR when required
    • Provide HR guidance and answer policy related questions as required
  • Talent Acquisition
    • Posting positions on most suitable websites depending on the role
    • Managing LinkedIn recruiter website and all the postings in HR Central
    • Ensuring all recruitment forms are completed on a timely basis
    • Reviewing applicant traffic to ensure talent strategy is delivering the desired outcome
    • Maintaining necessary requirements for applicant tracking and reporting
    • Conducting phone screens and scheduling interviews
    • Working with hiring managers to ensure full understanding of the role and job description being sourced
    • Guiding and coaching managers on effective behavioral interview techniques
    • Providing regular status updates to hiring managers and Global HR Director on open recruitment items
    • Completing HR Central recruitment process and ensuring all steps are completed timely and accurately to on-board new hire
    • Reviewing and reporting monthly metrics on recruitment initiatives

  • Employee Relations & Talent Development
    • Fostering positive employee relations and HR practices
    • Keep utmost confidentiality when dealing with employee relation issues
    • Able to guide and coach first level supervisors on day to day employee relation matters
    • Strong legal knowledge of local employment laws
    • Participate in safety meetings to drive culture of safety first and come up with innovative ways of engraving this in all daily functions
    • Develop and deliver training programs as needed for various employee groups
    • Ensure training documentation and process is reviewed with a focus on continuous improvement
    • Assist Global Director as needed in driving various HR initiatives
  • HR Administration
    • Day to day administration activities related to new hires, terminations, transfers or changes related to the employee population
    • Back up on all payroll and benefit related functions (ADP payroll processing, benefit processing, pension & 401K, annual salary review process, etc.)
    • Coordinate administrative activities related to annual performance review for all employees – including training supervisors on best practices in conducting performance reviews
    • New hire orientation and on-boarding, review and enhance the existing program
    • Ensuring all local state and federal training is conducted and monitored
    • Develop fully documented processes and annually updated work instructions for all administration related activities
    • Maintain and update HR forms and handbook as needed

Work experience requirements

Five years directly related HR generalist experience or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with SuccessFactors and ADP a plus
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of all levels of the Company and with people of varying personality types.
  • Able to work well under pressure and multitask
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law, CA department of fair employment and housing, FMLA, wage and labor
  • Ability to deliver training sessions and communicate effectively to various audiences
  • Functions well in a fast paced, innovative environment
  • Experience with handling sensitive and confidential material
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with the operations and collaboratively drive HR programs and initiatives
  • Payroll, Benefit and pension knowledge and able to ensure accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and audit controls
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • HR training and or SPHR certification an asset
