Human Resources – Payroll Specialist

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently looking for a strong HR-Payroll Specialist to provide financial, administrative and clerical support to the organization. The role is responsible for completing accrual payroll processing/administration/reports within allotted times.The right candidate will be a team-player with strong communication skills and diligence in their work.

  • Collect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydays
  • Familiarize yourself and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits and other factors
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications
  • Maintenance of payroll records, filing of back payroll documents and preparation of payroll reports
  • Maintain payroll wages garnishments, EDD documentation and reports
  • Maintain employee personal information in HR systems (Payroll/time & Attendance/Benefits) such as Address changes, Change of Status, Hire, Terminations and additional personnel data
  • Complete employment verification via phone or in writing on current and past employees
  • Assist in preparing employee separation final pay, notices and related documentation
  • Back up person for benefits plans, inquiries, enrollment, maintenance, and termination
  • Assist in responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist Human Resource personnel when needed
  • Assist in administering benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance programs
  • Assist in keeping records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • Maintain and document all payroll records
  • Conduct semi-annual audits of all payroll records
  • Reconcile general ledger with regards to payroll transactions
  • Detect and process issues related to uncollected payroll
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns
  • Protect organization values by keeping information confidential


  • HS Diploma or Associates degree combined with experience
  • Knowledge of financial software
  • Strong ability to analyze information
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors daily
  • An ability to prioritize and manage expectations
  • A keen eye for detail
  • An ability to work independently
  • The ability to communicate articulately and efficiently
