Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician 

 Indianapolis, IN

We are looking for someone who is highly skilled in troubleshooting industrial production equipment.  The majority of work will include electrical and mechanical PMs and some PLC troubleshooting.

In this job you will:

  • Work from daily production summaries, work orders, maintenance history reports for daily PMs on equipment.
  • Read drawings, sketches, schematics, equipment manuals, written and verbal instructions to plan, organize, assign, assist and check work done by mechanic staff.
  • Complete work orders detailing actions taken and materials used.
  • Design, fabricate and assemble unique machine parts as needed
  • Troubleshoot PLC components by reading ladder logic (programming skills not required)
  • Review and evaluate equipment performance:
    • Identify irregularities, trends and deficiencies, determine root cause
    • Research and specify best method to correct deficiency
  • Detect and report equipment malfunctions 
  • Respond to engineering requests for planned equipment changes
  • Maintain record and  shop supply inventory, order additional supplies
  • Operate lathe, mill, horizontal and vertical saw, pipe threader, multimeter, PLC input devices, various precision and general measuring devices, maintenance, machining and production equipment. Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair background (PLCs, VFDs,  AC and DC drives, installation, modification, and adjustments)
  • Maintain necessary work records.

Skills needed to succeed in this position:

  • High school graduate or equivalent Trade, craft or occupation. 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Previous Industrial Maintenance/PMs on production machinery is required. 
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting background is required.
  • PLC troubleshooting and reading ladder logic. (Programming not required)
  • Experience with extruding, mixing, compounding equipment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, preventative maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance.
  • Operating knowledge of general machining & fabrication equipment, including lathe, drills, saws, and welding.
  • Good communication and team work with other teams in the facility.
