Volt is immediately hiring an Internal Payroll Auditor in the San Diego area, for a local technology and services leader in the Property and Casualty industry.

Job Description:

The Internal Payroll Auditor will be responsible for performing daily administrative payroll duties to ensure employees are paid accurately and timely. Daily functions include auditing of incoming partner data for accuracy, duplicate files/employees and required approvals prior to passing to respective payroll analyst for processing employee payroll. Additionally, the Internal Payroll Auditor will be first level review/response/escalation of employee inquiries via MiService ticketing system as well as the general payroll inbox.

  • Audit all partner files for accuracy prior to passing to analyst for processing
  • Review all emails to keep up with policy updates and schedule changes
  • Follow-up on outstanding issues and discrepancies by escalating to the Payroll Analysts
  • Actively participate in team chat and daily team calls
  • Adhere to the scheduled work time and work location provided by Sr. Payroll Manager
  • Cross-train within the payroll department as needed
  • Additional ad hoc payroll related office administration duties as assigned
  • This is a Monday-Friday position, with core hours of 8:00 am-4:30 pm with some flexibility possible
  • Position is primarily remote for the time being-but, the preferred candidate will be in the San Diego area and able to work on site one day/week for filing and scanning responsibilities.  
  • Qualified candidates outside of the San Diego area will also be considered at this time in a remote capacity.
  • This is projected to be approximately a 6 month position

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma plus 3-5 years of previous or related experience

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of previous or related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of products especially Outlook and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
  • Flexible, able to immediately adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
