Job Description

Company:  Multi-million dollar storage and moving company is starting a new third party logistics division – Forward Freight.  Our retail business serves over 115 million people in 70 markets nationwide and still growing!  We are looking to leverage 70 warehouses in US and Canada, carrier relationships, and commercial partners to expand our capabilities and service options.

Objectives:  Entry-level logistics position inside of our National Operations Center.  Ensure pickup/delivery schedules are being met by contracted vendors and/or company owned fleet. Ensure all information is communicated real time so the dispatch department is providing excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enter loads/shipments into transportation management system (TMS)
  • Negotiate payables with carriers on loads
  • Add carriers to network and approve documents/payables
  • Customer Service – Secure more business and assist on shipment updates
  • Track and Trace – Confirm pick-up and delivery of loads
  • If a problem arises work with customer/carriers to find best solution
  • Demonstrate a systematic approach in carrying out assignments.
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions. Edits work for spelling and grammar; Able to read and interpret written information
  • Team Attitude - Willing to work with others, collaborating and compromising where necessary; promptly share relevant information with others.
  • Manage multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
  • Treat people with respect; Works with integrity and ethically.
  • Work over-time as needed to ensure customer transactions are completed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – High School diploma required. B.S. or B.A. preferred. 

Experience –

  • Prefer 1 year of transportation/logistics experience
    • Flatbed, Van, LTL, and/or Intermodal

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and telephone number pad.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to speak so that others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation both in person and over the phone.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
