Machinist
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
Will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.
Training and will actively participate in the training activities.
Will, during the normal performance of his duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.
Will keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.
Will compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required.
SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS
At a minimum, contractor is expected to:
Take various close tolerance measurements
Perform various machine operations and maintain tolerances
Perform operation set ups on manual lathes, milling machines, boring mills, grinders and drill presses. Task include boring, turning, facing, reaming, drilling, threading, grinding and cutting
Operate proficiently and in a safe manner all of the equipment associated with a machinist
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.
Three to five years’ experience in heavy industrial environment preferred
General working knowledge of power plant operations preferred
Familiar with basic maintenance requirements for equipment operated with ability to perform some routine maintenance procedures
Ability to work shift schedule, including working overtime, off shift and weekends when required
Understanding of OSHA safety rules in heavy industrial / power plant environment
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years of machine shop experience preferred
Must have manual and CNC mill and lathe experience
Must be observant and have normal color vision acuity in addition to being able to detect abnormal operations through sight, sound, and smell
Physically fit to stand, climb stairs and climb on generating equipment and be able to tolerate generating station environments
Capable to perform mechanical repairs of generating equipment
Capable of sharpening drill bits and lathe tools
Able to speak, read and write in English proficiently
Pay depends on experience
