Material Handler - Swing Shift

Fremont, CA

Volt Workforce Solutions has an opening for a Material Handler position for a large data server manufacturing client based in Fremont, CA. You will be responsible for assisting many departments with things such as shipping/receiving, sorting, and assembly.

Swing Shift: 3:30pm - 12:05am

Encompasses the following:

  • Cable Prep Operator
  • Recycling Operator
  • MFG Material Handler
  • WHS Material Handler
  • Server Packout Operator
  • WHS QC Material Handler
  • Rack Crating Operator
  • Loading Operator

Responsibilities

  • Open and unpack chassis and components to be used for server assembly
  • Install/replace brackets, labels, etc.
  • Integration of computer parts into a chassis on a progressive line
  • Installing small screws and parts into a chassis
  • Assembler handles and affix switches and applying labels
  • Installation of rails to elevation on rack specifications
  • Packaging finished racks
  • Identify and label cables for rack specification
  • May be required to assist with recycling materials
  • Assemblers will follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures for product assembly operations.
  • Collect recycling items from production
  • Flatten out carboard and other recyclable materials
  • Sort through recycling and trash bins
  • Transport the recycling items from bin to the container
  • Loads and off loads pallets from trailers
  • Moves materials to production and/or other locations as required
  • Packaging/unpacking material as needed.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack safely
  • Ability to shrink wrap by hand (large racks)
  • Matching labels to rack SN#s
  • Pushing heavy loaded racks into crates (50lbs of force)
  • Ability to operate pallet jack (moving heavy loaded racks) 50lbs of force
  • Packing out 30-40 racks per shift (as a team)
  • Examines items for defects, wear or damage
  • Reports information to WHS manager
  • Maintains records of damaged stock
  • Maintains records of damaged material-handling equipment
  • Performs any other tasks asked of

  • Lift racks that are 50 pounds continuously throughout the day
  • Integration of computer parts into a chassis on a progressive line
  • Installing small screws and parts into a chassis
  • Assemble handles and affix switches and applying labels
  • Installation of rails to elevation on rack specifications
  • Packaging finished racks
  • Identify and label cables for rack specification
  • May be required to assist with recycling materials
  • Assemblers will follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures for product assembly operations
  • Move racks from IST stage area (pallets on the floor) to loading rack
  • 10% of shift will be performing systematic scanning
  • 90% of shift will be loading high-volume of racks throughout the shift
  • Follows methods and sequence of operations in performing unpacking, and component preparation

Requirements

  • Requires at least 6 months of related experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for a prolonged period
  • Ability to work on ladders
  • Manual dexterity
  • Must be able to effectively work within a team environment
  • Communicate and can follow verbal and written directions
