Mechanical Engineer (Aircraft Propulsion)

Based in Everett, WA, this company is the leader in electric propulsion for commercial and defense aerospace applications. They are working to revolutionize the way the world connects by transforming the way aircraft are powered. They are now taking this technology and products to market and are looking for Mechanical Engineers to spearhead their efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply aerospace standard design practices to electric aircraft motors and accessories, including machined components, bearing selection/sizing, material selection, coatings, fasteners, lubricants, DFM
  • Conduct trade studies on design and manufacturing options, identify early methods for risk reduction and technology development
  • Produce complete design packages – detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, assembly instructions
  • Conduct reviews of designs, manufacturing plans and test procedures to ensure compliance with design and performance requirements
  • Coordinate with other departments through hardware delivery and operations (Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, etc.)
  • Lead resolution of technical problems, achieving buy-in from cross functional teams
  • Develop strong understanding of technical and certification requirements for Electric Propulsion Units for aviation
  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years' experience in Aviation or machine design
  • Practical experience using 3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS) and PDM systems
  • Aviation propulsion systems experience is advantageous
  • Hardware delivery experience and sound technical knowledge of electric machine design is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GD&T: ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y14.100-2013.
