Job Description

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong Manufacturing background preferably in Aerospace.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience working in a technical, engineering or manufacturing environment with the following materials (fabric, textile, vinyl, plastics or inflatable)
  • Experience in the aerospace, defense and medical industry
  • Experience with Research and Development
  • Strong understanding of FMEA
  • Some management experience
  • Ability to build effective and cross-functional teams and influence without authority
  • Experience in Lean and continuous improvement methodologies and tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical topics in a simple and meaningful manner
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Experience with AS9100 / QMS
  • Experienced with ERP systems (Epicor)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)


  • Be responsible for process development – from initial development to sustained manufacturing validation - planning, directing, and coordinating engineering activities, studies and programs in support of standard production and new product development
  • Responsible for planning, executing and supervising process development related to industrial fabric, textiles, vinyl, plastic or inflatable product
  • Have experience with development and manufacturing of textiles and vinyl products
  • Have experience with RF Welding
  • Responsible for process identification, parameter optimization, proof of concept testing, technology improvements, and process implementation
  • Interface and collaborate with New Product Development, Sustaining, and Quality groups
  • Responsible for tool and fixture design and qualification used for manufacturing medical and aerospace devices and components
  • Provide critical input for design and build of equipment required for processing textiles and vinyl. Support and provide equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements
  • Responsible for screening and optimization of process parameters to achieve robust and stable processes and maximize yields, efficiencies and process capabilities
  • Responsible for documentation of studies in engineering memorandums and work instructions
  • Identify, investigate and develop new technologies for textiles and vinyl processing
  • Develop strategic processing goals and objectives and integrate processes into Lean value streams
  • Develops and maintains routings, material lists, manpower requirements, machine/equipment requirements, skill levels and tooling required to manufacture a new or redesigned product
  • Assists in developing cost estimates to manufacture a new or redesigned product
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manual, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
