Job Description

Volt is looking for a Metallurgical Analyst Technician to work on-site with our customer John Deere in Waterloo, IA in a contingent position forecasted for 1 year.

Individual shall have the skills to operate various testing and analytical equipment including combustion carbon analytical equipment, OES spectrometer, and ductile image analytical equipment under the guidance of a Foundry Metallurgist. Skills required include chemistry laboratory support and test sample preparation/operation of polishing equipment grinding and polishing. Operation of this equipment includes calibration, standardization and reporting of results. This person shall have the capability to perform shift start-up and shutdown independently.

This person shall be able to operate independently (without higher level support) on all equipment in which they are qualified. In addition to analytical equipment operation this person shall have the abilities and skills to conduct chemistry controls and testing including production support. An understanding of equipment and process to the extent that set up adjustments can be made. This position also has shift to shift communication responsibilities.

Individual shall have the skills to perform metallography functions and physical characterization (hardness tensile, etc.). Skills which can support routine equipment maintenance, Diagnostics and repair are required. Individual shall have the ability to provide improvement support to documentation, manuals and operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum a 2-year degree in materials field
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office
  • Open to recent grad candidates who are open to learning
  • Previous Foundry experience is highly preferred
  • Candidates need to be open to all shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd)
