Job Description:

This technical position will be responsible for evaluating, designing, and implementing security-focused technologies and services while working with other technical engineers and project team members (Server, Client, Network, Communication, and Application) to create a secure environment. The candidate will also perform security analysis of operational environments for threats and vulnerabilities to assess compliance to accepted industry, government, and company standards. Ideal candidate will have a technical background in system and/or network s administration or similar experience from IT consulting in addition to having a technical knowledge in security engineering principles.  Additionally, we are looking for a candidate that can provide Splunk Engineering support to partner with security tools and infrastructure teams to facilitate data ingestion, analysis, correlation, and visualizations. The Engineer will enable our customer to fully deploy a Department Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) program utilizing Splunk Enterprise Security Tools.


  • GSEC, CISSP, GCIH, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) preferred.
  • Ability & track record of getting projects completed
  • Local area and Wide area networking, Network protocols such as TCP/IP
  • Network security systems such as IDS, IPS, Firewalls, Proxies, etc.,
  • Knowledge of Computer Security principals and applicability
  • Splunk Specific: Design and implement a technical infrastructure based on functional requirements for new and existing Splunk instances , develop guidance on data analysis and reporting including the use of machine learning models and complex data analysis Maintain, upgrade, and operate Splunk systems while providing guidance and assistance across teams Integrate automation, application and systems monitoring; and provide extensive knowledge of Splunk and educate the customer's Splunk users on search, reporting, and visualization development.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls: Assists with the day-to-day troubleshooting, resolution and change management of all Palo Alto firewalls as well as the configuration and documentation, upgrade software/firmware, system patches; provide troubleshooting, fault isolation, preventive maintenance, technical support and problem-solving.
  • Proficient with Linux OS distributions and Windows Server and workstation platforms
  • General knowledge of security infrastructure (IDS, firewall, VPN, SIEM, Proxy Servers, etc), encryption technology and practical applications (digital certificates, PKI, VPN, IPSec, SSL, S/MIME, Kerberos, etc.
  • Basic understanding of common security exploits (XSS, SQL Injection, MITM)
  • Possess excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Verbal and written communication skills required to collaborate and work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff to achieve security goals
  • Prefer experience with SOX, NERC CIP, and regulated industries
  • Ability & track record of getting projects completed
  • Ability to foster effective security awareness to peers
  • Ability to identify objectives and achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make efficient, correct decisions under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment with ongoing change and growth
