Job Description:

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a Package Engineer located in Maplewood, MN. The individual hired for this position of Package Engineer will have the opportunity to support the Packaging Solutions Department by providing packaging engineering services.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Follows a selected number of clearly defined procedures under general guidance.
  • Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Provides direct and/or indirect package engineering services to assigned operating units.
  • Provides research and analysis for packaging and business information upon request.
  • Implements packaging solutions.
  • Uses packaging industry knowledge to provide guidance/training to clients and/or co-workers.
  • Uses data from multiple sources and analytical skills to interpret information, examine variables, draw conclusions, and assess alternative methods.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of package solutions through direct or indirect contact with clients at the direction of senior package engineering personnel/supervisor.
  • Supports the modification and improvement of existing package designs, methods and/or solutions.
  • Works with suppliers of packaging materials and/or contract packaging vendors to obtain price/cost estimates, sample/material needs and design requirements for moderately complex projects.
  • Researches, interprets and analyzes information/data, as directed for business teams to assist in the completion of packaging requests and projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science
  • Comfortable with the Microsoft suite of computer programs (Excel vlookups, formulas, etc.)
  • Thrive in a team environment and work well with others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous consumer packaging experience
  • Knowledge of Artois CAD, distribution methods and testing software
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and willing to learn new technology and responsibilities
