Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a Principle Integration Engineer for our client’s R&D Dept in Albuquerque, NM.

 Are you ready to take your career to the next level?  Then this position is for you.  You will work for a leading manufacturer of solar panels used in space power applications (satellites and deep space exploration programs!  You will be developing new processes and materials to integrate solar cells into space solar panels. Projects will involve process development, improvement, and automation of processes such as glassing and interconnection of solar cells, interconnection design, dispensing and patterning of adhesives used for cell bonding and encapsulation, subcomponent placement, wiring (including flex wiring options), use of electrical connectors, and qualification of new materials and processes.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


  • Develop new processes and materials to integrate solar cells into space solar panels.
  • Work on process development, improvement, and automation of processes
  • Work in an R&D environment, qualify technology, and transfer into manufacturing.
  • Use CAD to design, evaluate, and prototype parts, tooling, and equipment.
  • Evaluate materials and design of experiments for integration
  • Need to be flexible in work environment/teams as well as an ability to learn about and develop new technology.
  • Transitioning processes and products from an R&D environment to volume manufacturing, assisting with appropriate work instructions (WIs).

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Preferred 3+ years similar experience
  • Aptitude and interest in process development and automation, materials behavior/selection, and mechanical design
  • Knowledge/experience with metallic interconnection (welding, soldering, etc.), polymeric adhesive bonding, and circuit basics
  • Proficient in use of computer-aided-design (CAD), SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with space hardware or design/materials for space environments is a plus
  • Versatile, able to operate in a dynamic environment and meet aggressive deadlines when under pressure
  • Other combinations of degrees and experience considered


  • Bachelor Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials Engineering or similar training most applicable
