Job Description

Volt is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for our Defense customer in Marlborough, MA. We are seeking an experienced systems engineer to join our team developing next generation air traffic systems. Our customer's Air Traffic Systems (ATS) sub-mission area is a world leader in air traffic automation, surveillance and navigation, responsible for providing air traffic tools to air navigation service providers (ANSPs) around the world.

This position is for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the execution of the Mobile Air Surveillance Radar (MASR) program, and will transition to support overall ATS Surveillance programs such as DASR, X-Band LPR, ATNAVICS, and D-RAPCON.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Provide technical direction and mentorship of 5-7 engineers on the MASR team
• Responsible for making significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of job area.
• Interact with and communicate with internal and external customers and vendors
• Domestic travel may be required in support of meeting program objectives (e.g. technical interchange meetings with customers, system test events, in-field system maintenance/tuning). There is a potential for international travel.

Required Experience and Skills:
• Minimum of 8 years of systems engineering experience, including experience working on surveillance radar programs
• Deep knowledge in ATS surveillance systems with a specialty or expertise within the discipline, experience designing and developing either military and commercial radar systems for Air Traffic Control
• Advanced knowledge in one of more of the following: system architecture, system design, requirements analysis, system integration, system verification
• Demonstrated ability in the system development life cycle, preferably in both system design and system integration & test, and an understanding of standard system engineering design and test artifacts and tools
• Experience with agile product development framework
• Effective communication skills, including interpersonal, oral and written, with demonstrated ability to influence internally and externally
• Thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Valid US Passport

Desired Experience and Skills:
• EVMS/CAM certification and experience
• Experience innovating new and/or emerging technologies
• Demonstrated skills in project management and/or technical leadership
• Experience producing analysis results to characterize surveillance equipment
• Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft SharePoint
US Secret Clearance Preferred

Additional Job Details:Required Education: A bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience
