Contract to Hire-Production Planner

Anoka, MN

Volt Technical Solutions is seeking a Production Planner for our client in the Anoka, MN area.  This is a temp to direct position with a billion dollar electrical company that is an industry leader in their field.

Objective of Position:

Coordinate all aspects of production planning, raw material purchasing and nonstandard order entry for all items processed for / or in an assigned Value Stream or department(s).   Establish production schedules that result in a smooth workflow, on time component receipts / production completions, and promote customer satisfaction.  Maintain inventory in support of manufacturing processes, plan and schedule usage of raw material, manufactured components and capacity consistent with Lean Principles.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish daily production schedules for assigned product, with sufficient lead-time to determine in which sequence products and components will be manufactured or purchased to meet planned requirements.  Create, review and release orders in a timely manner and perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
  • Review and utilize work center load data to identify and resolve capacity / load issues.  Make or recommend revisions to existing production schedules.  Monitor schedules and processes to assist departmental or value stream personnel in achieving the goals of on time completion.
  • Respond to inquiries on customer orders.  Ensure that inquiries are promptly and professionally responded to. Communicate with affected customers when schedules are revised.
  • Plan all parts individually to meet the business needs.  

Education, experience and skills:

  • BS / BA Degree in business, engineering, materials management
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Computer experience with Windows Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of all material flow processes
  • Skill in communicating effectively through oral and written communications
  • Ability to function in a high stress, high pressure environment, with a positive attitude.
