Job Description

The Production Manager will be responsible for the overall execution of the manufacturing plan.  Works with clients and internal resources to provide the fabrication and delivery of products.  Manages a team of supervisors to guarantee product fabrication and delivery.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

To achieve the mission for this position, the Production Manager will produce the following critical actions and results:

  • Responsible for the overall planning of production so as to meet forecast requirements on scheduled deliveries and to ensure maximum utilization of plant personnel and facilities.

  • Responsible for the development of manufacturing operating effectiveness required to ensure continuing effective operation of manufacturing facilities.

  • Defines and recommends manufacturing objectives; develops specific short-term and long-range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests and financial statements.

  • Responsible for the manufacture of all company products at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications as to quality, quantity and schedules.

  • Ensures prompt and economical purchase of required materials and supplies and delivery of finished products to customers.

  • Responsible for maintenance of the inventories of semi-finished and finished products at proper levels, both as to quantity and value, consistent with the budgets and forecasts.

  • Directs preparation of progress reports, manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.

  • Responsible for installation and maintenance of all processing equipment used in manufacturing.

  • Develops and recommends manufacturing policy, and establishes Manufacturing Department’s operating policies.

  • Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.

  • Formulates and installs standard practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs and production figures.

  • Other duties as requested.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge and skills:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering.  MS or MBA degree is highly desirable.

Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience managing large manufacturing shops with proven leadership and a proven track record of driving change and implementing lean principles. 
  • Must be currently managing 30+ employees
  • Aerospace production experience is preferred. 
  • Experience with a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Mix of experience managing and transforming culture in large assembly operations.
  • Career progression with progressively more responsible roles within production operations.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement trained.
  • Experience with and oriented toward metrics in business analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are mandatory.
