Job Description

The ISO Quality Associate is responsible for performing routine to complex quality activities and employing project management principles to support the QEMS (Quality, Environmental, and Safety Management System).  This person will assess and observe work processes and procedures, diagnose and identify issues, analyze performance, and recommend solutions while developing, tracking, and following up on internal correctives. The Quality Associate verifies successful implementation and sustainability of QEMS programs via internal audits in accordance with the department's Annual Internal Audit Plan/Schedule to ensure conformance with the company’s mission and goals.  

Essential Functions

  • Plans and executes scheduled internal audits that utilize data collected during field assessments, documenting/recording observations and interviews into draft reports
  • Reviews and interprets documents such as policies, standard operating procedures, processes, contracts, and work instructions to determine accuracy in accordance with QEMS procedures, internal directives, and regulatory requirements
  • Produces documents such as internal audit reports, follow-up assessments, findings, corrective  action plans, policies, standard operating procedures, process flow charts, and work instructions to effectively communicate requirements to internal staff
  • Researches and evaluates data using analytical and logical reasoning to gather and evaluate evidence, and form a conclusion or highlight areas of interest for further investigation
  • Performs problem solving techniques to identify root causes; utilizes available data, as well as deductive reasoning, to understand and address root causes; evaluates actions taken to address root causes to assure the effectiveness of those actions
  • Develops an understanding of organizational functions and ISO/legal/OSHA requirements to optimize processes and provide informed recommendations which will address and prevent hazards while reducing risk

Education and Experience

  • Relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma or GED and three years of progressive responsibility in the field of Quality Management
  • Two years in an ISO, OSHA, or similar regulatory environment, particularly ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 19011:2011
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Quality auditing experience/knowledge is a plus
  • Certified Quality Auditor is a plus
