Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is hiring for a Quotations Specialist in Kearny Mesa!!!


  • This person furnishes proposals to many different customers and projects with varying time frames and individual requirements. Through an iterative, collaborative engagement with the customer and other project stakeholders, the Specialist prepares proposals that result in the company being awarded projects.
  • The Quotations Specialist manages all aspects of the proposal process to ensure accuracy of specification and pricing to maximize profit.
  • Routinely, this person researches plan sets, requests pricing, recommends alternatives, proposes margins and reviews for technical completeness.
  • Strategically, the Quotations Specialist communicates with the customer and vendors to meet deadlines and then secure award of the project. Additionally, this role furnishes design-assist fixture schedules and layout recommendations for custom-residential engagements.
  • This role requires extreme accuracy, flexibility and organization to manage competing deadlines while placing the customer’s expectations above their own.


  • Collaborates with Sales, customers and vendors during the proposal process
  • Reviews and analyzes bid requirements to generate timely, accurate and complete proposals
  • Correlates all cost, sell and specification information within time frame of bid date
  • Ensures proposals are priced timely, completely and accurately; allotting time to conduct an internal review
  • Establishes rapport with the customer and builds relationships with vendors
  • Acquires pricing from vendors while working with a deadline, verifies whether it is competitive and complete
  • Identifies alternative product options that align with customer requirements
  • Follows-up to determine whether the proposal is won, lost or should be revised
  • Researches market pricing and historical customer pricing to recommended final pricing and gross margin
  • Reviews own work for and that of colleagues, as needed
  • Maintains current and organized project files to facilitate smooth transition of project file to Project Management
  • Continually seeks to increase architectural lighting knowledge
  • Maintains confidence of sensitive data and behaves professionally
  • Performs additional associated duties as required


  • High school graduate with a minimum of an Associates degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience generating lighting or electrical proposals to the customer
  • Fundamental technical knowledge of lighting fixtures, controls and/or electrical
  • Ability to perform take-off’s and read construction plan sets and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with follow-up
  • High detail orientation and serious organization skills
  • Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Flexible, results-driven with a sense of urgency, and a work ethic to meet the needs of this client-driven business
  • Solves analytical problems of moderate to high complexity, exercising independent judgement.
