Job Description

Direct Hire Reliability Engineering Manager for an electronics manufacturing company located in San Jose CA.

As Reliability Engineering Manager you will lead a team that is responsible for qualifying a broad portfolio of cutting edge, high frequency RF and microwave products.


  • Manage a team of highly skilled Reliability engineers and technicians to bring a broad range of new passive, hybrid and MMIC products and packages through reliability characterization and qualification to production release.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to qualify multiple products simultaneously.
  • Optimize reliability models and methods for product lines.
  • Own qualification strategy and ensure all qualification plans follow industry standards (JEDEC, MIL-STD, space, etc.) or customer-specific requirements (SCD) when required.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to assess risks and determine appropriate qualification tests.
  • Manage in-house reliability testing using internal reliability equipment.
  • Ensure the equipment is maintained and calibrated, and all hardware and software is available for life test and measurement.
  • Coordinate reliability and qualification testing and failure analysis at external labs as required.
  • Oversee pre- and post-stress DC and RF electrical testing.
  • Ensure automated testing is set up with appropriate tests, limits and guard bands established.


  • BS (MS Preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics.
  • 8+ years of job experience in the electronics industry in the areas of Quality or Reliability
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to motivate, inspire and teach a talented team of younger engineers to meet challenging goals.
  • Detailed knowledge of RF semiconductor devices physics, IC fabrication (GaAs, SOI), packaging technology, RF test and reliability physics.
  • Hands-on experience of reliability and testing of high frequency RF devices is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience of semiconductor process defects, failure analysis techniques and defect screening methodologies are required.
  • Good understanding of circuit reliability and reliability degradation mechanisms.
  • Highly skilled at applying key elements of industry standards (JEDEC, MIL-SPEC, Class K,S) or customer-specific requirements to generate efficient qualification plans.
  • Deep knowledge of the suite of qualification tests (thermal, electrical, mechanical) and test methods required for RF devices.
  • Good understanding of RF components (Mixers, Passives, Amplifiers, Switches), assembly requirements and hands-on experience working with RF Test Systems (e.g. Agilent Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, VNA...).
  •  Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, peers, and customers.
