Reliability Engineering Manager

This company in Redmond, WA that develops laser scanning technology for projection, 3D sensing, and image capture is seeking a Reliability Engineering Manager as a key member of our team. The company currently has an opportunity in our Quality Department for an experienced Reliability Engineering Manager responsible for leading all product reliability activities.  An excellent understanding of reliability analysis, testing and statistics is required to interface with cross functional teams to drive end to end reliability with detailed analysis and testing. The selected candidate is responsible for all aspects of reliability including component, subassembly and final product reliability specification, analysis, testing execution and documentation.

Responsible for managing and directing staff in support of reliability initiatives including providing training, guidance, and mentorship. Drive techniques including failure analysis and root cause analysis, FMEAs, reliability analysis, accelerated testing techniques, and application of statistical analysis techniques (e.g. Weibull, Chi-squared, DOE, multiple regression analysis).

Manage all development and production performance testing (in-house and external) including validating, reporting and budget. Be/become automotive reliability requirement expert.

Translate relevant data/information into broadly understandable risks and provide means for trade off discussions. Build product reliability life models utilizing field data analysis and designed experiment results. Assess in-house testing requirements and capabilities including developing a strategy to support business needs. Serves as advocate for reliability across the organization.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate  should possess a Master of Science in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science or a related technical field strongly preferred. A Bachelor of Science in technical discipline with appropriate work history also will be considered. At least 1 year demonstrated experience managing and/or leading a quality team.

Minimum 10+ years in technical field and 5+ years focused on reliability and test in a product development environment. Experience with reliability testing such as vibration & shock testing, fatigue testing, electrical stress testing, ESD testing, and thermal stress testing. Capable to use quality and reliability tools such as FMEA, Fishbone, DOEs and Six-sigma methods to build reliable products. Experience in data analytics, statistical analysis. Able to perform reliability analysis such as lifetime analysis, accelerated factor studies, reliability modeling. Familiar with data analysis tools such as JMP, Reliasoft, Matlab, Minitab or Python. Quality team management experience. Demonstrated technical expertise in reliability testing, modeling, and product lifetime prediction. Ability to contribute to and review product design to ensure reliability objectives are met. Work throughout organization to ensure proper definition of reliability expectations and appropriate assurance techniques. Expert in writing detailed specifications, test plans, failure analysis and test reports.

Strong understanding of material property physics (mechanical, optical, and material science). Experience in the use of PLM or related system for the management of product testing. Experience with a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment. Semi-conductor, MEMS, or wafer level processes knowledge a plus. Proficient in ReliaSoft or Minitab reliability analysis
