Job Description

Senior Accountant

Volt has partnered with an oil & gas service company to identify a strong Senior Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this highly visible role assists the Accounting Manager, Shared Services Director and Corporate Controller with the day-to-day, month-end and year-end accounting in the shared services group.

Duties

  • Prepare and post journal entries during each month-end close for several business processes including other assets, other liabilities, Corporate fixed assets, share-based compensation and month-end accruals.
  • Prepare accounting review of AFEs for Corporate businesses and coordinate the recording of AFEs in SAP.
  • Responsible for cost center management for Corporate business, which includes preparing bi-monthly cost center reports, preparation of budget versus actual analyses, and working directly with cost center owners to ensure that costs are appropriately captured in the financial statements.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for business processes outlined.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Manager to provide high level explanations on financial statement variances for the current month, and current quarter, where applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX and recommend improvements to allow for increased financial accuracy/streamlined processes. Provide assistance with internal and external audit requests.
  • Provide schedules to the external auditors as requested

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant progressive accounting experience required with a combination of public accounting and private industry experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of asset capitalization criteria under US GAAP preferred.
  • Prior experience with cost center management preferred.
  • Basic understanding of share-based compensation accounting under US GAAP considered a plus.
  • SAP experience preferred
