Job Description:

Senior team member responsible for driving initiatives and projects related to the design, implementation of support of server, storage and application environments.  Work with team members and vendors to develop technology strategy and implement chosen solutions. Mentors less experienced Systems Administrators.

  • Manages all aspects of the Data Center’s servers, storage and application processing and develops recommendations for new or enhanced systems, services and technologies throughout the company
  • Play a key role in strategy/roadmap of major initiatives – Security Operations, Cloud Strategies etc.
  • Design and implement automation tasks for efficiency, standardization and optimization of processing.
  • Architect data backup and business continuity plans for disaster recovery.
  • Design, engineer, coordinate, test and implement enhancements or new releases of the Operating
  • Systems, Servers and Storage environments.
  • Leverage advanced systems knowledge in the planning, provisioning, configuring, monitoring, loadbalancing, and backup/recovery of physical servers and VM servers. (Windows, Linux, VMware
  • VSphere, VMware Horizons, Citrix, etc.).
  • Performs troubleshooting of advanced and/or complex problems, failures, and questions and responds with a proper resolution within the specified timeline.
  • Provide leadership and take ownership for complex or advanced tasks and/or projects.
  • Act as primary owner of backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manages network storage (SAN, NAS).
  • Handles administration of various database servers (MSsql, Postgres, MySql).
  • Owns the design and training of less experienced team members on Active Directory, backup, procedures, security permissions etc.
  • Performs general network connectivity trouble shooting as it pertains to server/storage communications and performance.
  • Handles performance monitoring and capacity planning including setup/admin of monitoring solution, setting of alerts, proactive checks of server/storage performance and capacity.
  • Handles administration, integration, and management of cloud based services including Gmail, cloud faxing, hosted servers.
  • Responds to issues, questions, failures, and requests for new services/equipment
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation, and after hours support if/as needed.
  • Participate, collaborate, and communicate as part of our global, distributed Infrastructure Team.
  • Manage projects, drive initiatives for improvement, set direction for next phases/waves of technology, and act as a resource for other team members.
  • Provide infrastructure support to multiple domestic locations.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate services/purchases, and collaborate with vendors/consultants on various projects.
  • Identify and recommend areas where cost savings can be achieved without the sacrifice of quality.
  • Leverage IT and Systems knowledge to offer suggestions to improve purchasing and planning processes,
  • systems, and methods.
  • Provide leadership in establishing and maintaining working relationships with various departments.
  • Lead collaboration and knowledge sharing between team members to achieve balanced scorecard objectives.
  • Mentor and provide training to less experienced team members.
  • Exemplify Mission, Vision, and Values and proactively works to improve image and culture.
  • Must possess a minimum of eight years work experience performing substantially similar essential functions
  • Demonstrated experience architecting enterprise storage and backups and Disaster Recovery Plan solutions.
  • Demonstrates proficient extensive knowledge of Microsoft technology implementation, configuration and support including Active Directory, MSMQ, DFS, IIS and related services
  • Design, engineer and management experience with VMware/HyperV and related products
  • Proficient knowledge of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, SCSI, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, clustering, encryption and related products.
