Job Description

Sr. Metrology Technician (Eden Prairie) 6-month contract

Metrology/Calibration Technician supports manufacturing/receiving/engineering/testing by performing complex/advanced manual and/or automated calibration of test and measurement equipment.

  1. Performs complex/advanced calibrations of test and measurement equipment according to established procedures, processes, and systems
    • Calibrates the following equipment: Dimensional, Mechanical, Torque, Temperature, Electrical/Electronic, and Pressure
    • Enters calibration results into calibration tracking/documentation computer system
    • Removes & re-installs test equipment from stations using safe practices
    • Identifies equipment that fails calibration, uses manufacturer’s manuals, etc. to access and perform adjustment to meet specifications, or dispositions equipment as requiring repair
    • Operates various lab standards, equipment, and specialized calibration computer programs
    • Determines appropriate laboratory standards required to perform calibrations
    • Determines appropriate external laboratory capabilities required to perform calibrations, if in-house capability does not exist
    • Meets established schedules with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
    • Uses automated calibration software including Fluke MetCal and Fluke Compass for Pressure
    • Lifts 50 lbs. on a regular basis
    • Works in both laboratory and manufacturing environments
    • Follows established quality & safety policies
  2. Communicates effectively and accurately with internal and external functions, including Metrology Laboratory personnel, Instrument Builders, Work Unit Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, IT, Procurement, Shipping, Receiving, and Vendors
    • Provides guidance to equipment users, engineers, and other technicians in the proper operation of test and measurement equipment
  3. Creates and modifies calibration procedures by determining metrology requirements from manufacturer’s manuals, laboratory methods, etc.
    • Uses Microsoft Word and Excel to write calibration procedures and validate specifications
  4. Performs work of a miscellaneous nature as required

Education: 1800 hours of technical school. Experience: Six years related experience.
