VOLT is seeking an individual to fill a position as a Senior Embedded SW Engineer position for a local company in Greater Seattle.   This is contingent to hire role of estimated 12 months duration with possibility of extension.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will be a member of the  product software development team. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will work with Systems engineers, Marketing, and other cross functional groups to analyze and establish embedded software requirements, to design, implement and test product software. The engineer will participate in software development activities as a team member, able to accept and deliver constructive criticism of work products, able to challenge and be challenged by other team members, will share the team goal of delivering high quality products that delight client's patients and customers.

The Senior Embedded Software engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, documenting, and testing  product software in accordance with regulatory requirements and the  Quality System.

Required and Preferred skills include:

  • Strong Embedded C/C++ Programming skills
  • Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
  • RTOS Experience, OpenRTOS, QNX, POSIX experience preferred
  • Python Programming skills
  • Experience with computer network, TCP/IP, UDP, Bluetooth, WiFi
  • Experience with 32-bit ARM processors, RS-232, SPI, I2C, USB, device driver experience preferred
  • Comfortable working with Linux command line tools (bash shell, etc.)
  • Able to read schematics, electrical and pneumatic
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, (DMM, Oscilloscope, Flow meters, ...)
  • Experience using bug tracking tools, e.g., Jira
  • Work according to Project Plan and Company QA Manual.
  • Maintain current QA training, as required.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • College graduate in EE or Computer science
  • 5+ working as an embedded software engineer
  • 3+ years developing software for medical device, or other safety critical application, preferred.
  • 3+ years working within a quality system including document and change control process, and formal V&V testing processes
  • Office Software Skills - Competent with Excel, Word
  • Attendance – must be punctual and reliable in commitments and work hours.
  • Attention to detail - must be able to remain creative in finding solution while operating within the development environment rules
  • Time Management – must be able to balance/prioritize daily activities to meet on-demand needs as well as longer-term tasks. Must be willing to put in extra time as required to meet project commitments.
  • Self-Motivated – must be willing to take ownership and drive to successful conclusion of assigned tasks - plus be willing to volunteer to take on new challenges
  • Team Player – must be willing to jump in when the team needs help, to keep the project moving forward towards success.
