Job Description

Major technology company is seeking a Senior Java Developer with 8 plus years of experience to independently perform technical and/or specialized work in the areas of design, development, update, maintenance, reporting from and improvement of the company’s Automated Information Systems. Specifically, formulate and define automated system or program scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop, modify or report against any automated information system, including the complex.

  • Essential Functions Within the context of developing automated information systems, the ability to perform several of the following functions constitutes the minimum responsibility to be performed by a Senior Application Developer.
  • For medium to large project efforts, analyze data, identify informational or process requirements/needs, identify problems, provide technical advice or consultation, and develop logical solutions to problems; provide leadership and drive change Provide project management skills, develop project plans, conduct impact analysis, identify and mitigate risks, escalate issues appropriately.
  • Provide leadership in system design; keep abreast of company and divisional efforts to identify early potential system changes.
  • Construct detailed design specifications (technical or business) based on business partner requirements. Develop data and process modeling to meet business requirements. Code programs to meet design specifications.
  • Design and construct data conversion, access or retrieval approaches Generate and execute test plans for lifecycle stages; unit test and debug programs as necessary Participates or assists in providing architectural design to meet project needs. Define and develop the test and production environment, coordinate the migration of the system, and/or coordinate efforts with other IT projects.  
  • Adhere to architectural guidelines/standards and delivery discipline processes; document the various computer systems enhancements/modifications or information retrievals/updates and update/create procedures Interact and effectively communicate with business partners and other IT staff; act as an information resource by providing assistance and support to team members. Evaluate vendor packages and make recommendations/final proposal to management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field Minimum eight years of programming or systems related analysis experience, or both, demonstrating increasing skill levels and responsibilities Demonstrated experience using structured and /or object oriented programming concepts.
